Device Description

The Intel Next Unit of Computing D54250 is a small form-factor PC desktop, powered by a fourth-generation Intel Core i5-4250U processor (formerly "Haswell"). This processor features Intel HD 5000 graphics.

This NUC features one half-length mSATA slot and one full-length mini-PCIe slot. It is available both as a NUC Desktop Board and as a NUC Desktop Kit.

Desktop Kits are available with both low-profile chassis, as well as a larger chassis that supports a 2.5-inch hard disk or solid-state drive, via an available SATA port that is present on all D54250 models.

Support Status

  • NUC D54250 - Green (Console OS works well on this device)

We fully support the Intel NUC D54250 with Console OS Developer Release 1. Audio output may have problems, particularly over HDMI. This is a known issue.

You must be running either an Intel 3160 or Intel 7260 family Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card. We expect to add support for additional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chipsets in future releases.

You can install Console OS to either the mSATA drive internally, or to an external USB 3.0 hard disk.

Installation Instructions

You must be running the latest BIOS from Intel.com before installing Console OS. We only test and validate Console OS using the latest system BIOS available, and BIOS updates are critical to the performance-tuning of Console OS and the underlying UEFI firmware.

The D54250 has critical issues with older BIOS versions. Please be sure you are running the latest BIOS before installing, or Console OS will not work.
